The Pacific Mesothelioma Center's 9th Annual Walk/hike for Mesothelioma Raises Record High of $527,000
Yes, that’s correct! Even during these difficult times, the Pacific Mesothelioma Center (PMC) raised a over $527,000 for mesothelioma research – a record! Worthington & Caron, P.C. again served as the lead sponsor of that event and has proudly continued to do so every year.
As you know PMC’s mission is to find better treatment options for malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM), a devastating cancer caused by exposure to asbestos with sadly few treatment options. Mesothelioma research is underfunded, and the PMC annual walk/hike raises awareness and provides critical funding for mesothelioma research at PHLBI’s in-house research laboratory in Los Angeles.
This year, the walk was virtual but still a great success! Despite the pandemic, this year’s virtual walk raised $527,267.00.
Please take the time to view this excellent video depicting some of the participants from across the USA, including 87-year-old veteran Lester Probst as well as walkers in the United Kingdom, Portugal and the Emerald Isle of Ireland.
According to PHLBI executive director Clare Cameron, “Having the ‘virtual’ element allowed walkers to participate everywhere regardless of distance and timing. Given its popularity, we plan to offer ‘virtual’ participation as an option to future in-person walks which we pray can be resumed in 2021.”
And Worthington& Caron will be there Clare. See you then!
